Indian Ocean Crossing Swells: New Insights from “Fireworks” Perspective Using Envisat Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar

چکیده
Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) in wave mode is a powerful sensor for monitoring the swells propagating across ocean basins. Here, we investigate crossing Indian Ocean using 10-years Envisat SAR archive spanning from December 2003 to April 2012. Taking benefit of unique “fireworks” analysis on observations, reconstruct origins and routes that are associated with swell pools Ocean. Besides, three different mechanisms discriminated space by comparative between results original data: (1) mid-ocean basin Ocean, two remote southern form swell; (2) wave-current interaction; and, (3) co-existence Southern shamal contribute Agulhas Current region Arabian Sea.

Estimates of Forest Growing Stock Volume for Sweden, Central Siberia, and Québec Using Envisat Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar Backscatter Data
A study was undertaken to assess Envisat Advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (ASAR) ScanSAR data for quantifying forest growing stock volume (GSV) across three boreal regions with varying forest types, composition, and structure (Sweden, Central Siberia, and Québec). Estimates of GSV were obtained using hyper-temporal observations of the radar backscatter acquired by Envisat ASAR with the BIOMASA...
متن کاملSurface displacements and source parameters of the 2003 Bam (Iran) earthquake from Envisat advanced synthetic aperture radar imagery
[1] The Mw 6.6, 26 December 2003 Bam (Iran) earthquake was one of the first earthquakes for which Envisat advanced synthetic aperture radar (ASAR) data were available. Using interferograms and azimuth offsets from ascending and descending tracks, we construct a three-dimensional displacement field of the deformation due to the earthquake. Elastic dislocation modeling shows that the observed def...
متن کاملThe Object Detection Efficiency in Synthetic Aperture Radar Systems
The main purpose of this paper is to develop the method of characteristic functions for calculating the detection characteristics in the case of the object surrounded by rough surfaces. This method is to be implemented in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) systems using optimal resolution algorithms. By applying the specified technique, the expressions have been obtained for the false alarm and cor...
متن کاملOcean Feature Monitoring with Wide Swath Synthetic Aperture Radar
y providing better spatial coverage, wide swath synthetic aperture radar (SAR) can offer a more complete picture of various mesoscale ocean features. With better temporal coverage, SAR also supplies crucial information for the tracking and monitoring of these features using, for instance, the technique of two-dimensional wavelet analysis. Examples presented in this article of fronts in the Gulf...
متن کاملLow-Backscatter Ocean Features in Synthetic Aperture Radar Imagery
any ocean surface signatures in synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery are characterized by relatively low normalized radar cross section values. Distinguishing among these signatures objectively can be very difficult, especially with only the singleband and single-polarization SAR imagery available from the European Remote Sensing satellites and the Canadian Radarsat-1. Nevertheless, distincti...
